DARTMOUTH, MA (MyKeeneNow)The Keene State College women’s soccer team picked up a much-needed Little East Conference win on Saturday afternoon at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, as the Owls took down the Corsairs, and KSC picked up their first conference win of the year, 3-0.

Records

  • Keene State: 4-6-2 (1-2-1 LEC)
  • UMass-Dartmouth: 3-6-2 (0-3 LEC)

How it Happened

The Corsair attack looked to take an early lead, but KSC’s goalkeeper, Riley Andriski, did not allow that to happen, as she saved the first two shots on goal from UMD in the opening 7:24 of the contest. On the other end of the field, the Corsairs’ goalkeeper, Grace Conti, looked to save the Owls’ first two shots, just as Andriski had done to her team. After saving the Owls’ first shot on goal, which came from Bryn Dickinson, Conti was unable to save the second, as Elizabeth Tschudin’s shot found the back of the net for the Owls to end KSC’s five-game scoreless streak, 17 minutes into the contest. The Owls denied UMD’s attempt to tie the game up shortly after, as Andriski made a save, and the Owl defense blocked another shot from the Corsairs after a corner kick. After both teams traded possessions back-and-forth the rest of the half, in the final six minutes, Andriski made one more save in net, while Conti made a pair of saves, as the two teams headed to the half with the Owls ahead.

Neither team recorded a shot on goal until over halfway into the final 45 minutes of play. Adriana Adames of UMD tried to even the game up at one apiece, but Andriski made her fifth save of the contest, to preserve the Owls’ lead. In the closing minutes of the match, KSC added an insurance goal as Dickinson assisted Joclynn Tyler for the KSC goal with 10:35 left on the clock. Then, the Owls put the nail in the coffin shortly after as Emily O’Connell assisted Allison Kenyon with 5:10 left on the clock to give KSC the 3-0 win over the Corsairs.

Inside the Box

  • With the win, KSC improves to 30-2-2 in the all-time series against the Corsairs, with the Owls going 10-0-1 over the past 11 meetings and outscoring the Corsairs, 26-6.
  • KSC outshot UMD, 14-12, along with 7-5 in shots on goal, but did not have a corner kick in the contest, compared to two from UMD.
  • Tschudin and Tyler both capitalized on their only shots on goal in the match, as Tschudin scored her third goal and Tyler scored her first goal of the 2024 season. Kenyon picked up her second goal of the season after taking two shots in the contest, with both of them being on goal.
  • Andriski posted her third shutout of the season, while making five saves in net, compared to four saves from Conti.
