KEENE, NH – The former CEO of Monadnock Family Services Ken Jue has passed away.

According to a brief, preliminary obituary, Jue passed away on Monday May 23rd at his home in Keene surrounded by his family at the age of 77.

Jue began work with MFS in 1978, eventually becoming CEO and retiring from the position in 2011.

Current MFS CEO Phil Wyzik remembers Jue as an asset to the community.

“We are proud and grateful to have counted Ken as a leader, friend, and supporter of MFS,” Wyzik said in a prepared statement. “During his tenure, Ken became known as a tireless and compassionate advocate for those struggling with their mental health, a bridge builder, a philanthropist, and a friend to everyone.”

Wyzik said one of Jue’s many accomplishments was creating the InShape program after identifying the heightened physical health risks people with mental health conditions face. The success of that program enabled Jue to bring the model to other organizations across the country.

Jue is also remembered for his love for his Chinese-American heritage, and Wyzik said he was known as a change-maker, and ensured that conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion were happening in the community.

Jue was serving as Co-Chair for the MFS capital campaign when he passed.

“Over the last year, Ken’s dedication and leadership on the campaign committee resulted in success that will live on in our community for generations.”

Wyzik concluded his statement by sending his deepest condolences to Jue’s family. He also joined WKBK Tuesday morning to talk about Jue’s accomplishments. The full discussion is available here.

Keene Mayor George Hansel issued a statement following the news of Jue’s passing, and echoed Wyzik’s sentiments.

“Ken was an incredible advocate for mental health services in SW New Hampshire,” Hansel said. “Thank you Ken for your tireless service to our community and for your advice, encouragement, and friendship. We’ll miss you dearly.”

No further information has been released regarding Jue’s cause of death or any memorial services. A complete obituary notice and service information will be published at a later date.
