Another trip around the sun, another batch of “I resolve to…”s. We all know the drill: we promise ourselves we’ll lose weight, spend less, or see family more often, and that once these things happen, our lives will magically transform.
But most resolutions are significantly more unattainable than their we believe—so this year, we’re turning to intention-setting instead.
The main difference is that resolutions tether you to the future with no clear path forward while intentions ground you in the present.
When setting your new years intentions, think about what brings you joy. Think about what brings you happiness and leads you to your purpose Write it down!
Doing so will help keep you positive. If you find yourself falling into the trap of things you don’t want to do this year, switch it around to a positive statement or mantra.
Speaking of mantras, it can even just be one word- like patience, trust, compassion or kindness.
You may also want to share this with a friend. Having someone to talk to about it can help you stay present and accountable.
