Find the Joy in the week before Christmas
Find the Joy in the week before Christmas

We are a little over a week away from Christmas and while having a conversation with a friend earlier this week, she kept expressing how STRESSED she was because of the impending holiday.  Her stress even had stress.

Isn’t this supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year?  How can we try to experience as little stress & craziness as possible and ENJOY this one week that only comes once a year?

I know of a lot of you still have a ton of things to do- wrapping gifts, sending cards, figuring out dinner menus- but let’s try to turn it out around.

Here’s what I am doing. I am making a list of everything I have left to do before Christmas that are definite MUSTS.

Once you make that list you may want to reevaluate everything on it.  Cross off whatever is not MUST

You have a choice- you can kill yourself with stress trying to make everything PERFECT, making you tired or grumpy and missing the magic of the season.

The week leading up to Christmas can be filled with joy.  Why rob yourself of that just so you can say you made 5 varieties of cookies instead of 2?

And don’t be afraid to ask family to pitch in so you can have some extra time for yourself.

It could be days before power is restored across the South, where more subfreezing temperatures are expected by Friday in areas unaccustomed to and ill-equipped for such cold.
