Bananas for a better mood? You Betcha!
Bananas for a better mood? You Betcha!

Feeling a little cranky?  Not in the best mood.

Well, grab a banana.  That’s right- grab a banana!

So let me back it up a second here…

Let’s talk serotonin.  Serotonin is a naturally-occurring neurotransmitter that contributes to your over wellbeing. The body can make serotonin on its own, but sometimes not in the amount we need to function optimally.

A banana has approximately 30% of your daily recommended intake of vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 helps the brain produce serotonin, which is considered a mood stabilizer. Serotonin impacts your motor skills and emotions. It is also the chemical that helps you sleep and digest food. Eating a banana can help relieve depression and anxiety by stimulating the serotonin levels in your body.

While a banana isn’t a cure all for depression, it can help lift your mood.

Now isn’t that appealing?
